A fertile inland area referred locally amongst the wine trade as ‘over the mountains’. This capital of the Breede River Valley produces 20% of South Africa’s wine. As if stepping back in time the town’s cultural village, Kleinplasie (little farm) is a working agricultural museum with weavers, candle makers and all sorts of traditional activities going on. There is a large blind school in Worcester, and to enable residents to cross the road safely, the traffic lights emit a variety of unusual sounds. |
