George Climate....
George has a Mediterranean Maritime climate, with moderately hot summers, and mild to chilly winters.
It is one of the lower rainfall areas in Garden Route, most of which occurs in the winter months, brought in by the humid sea-winds from the Indian ocean.
George Airport....
The town of George, about halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, lies on the Garden Route, one of South Africa premier tourist attractions. Every year, more and more visitors are lured to the region's mountains, beaches and forests – a tourist influx that has been behind George Airport's steady growth in the past few years.
George may have a relatively small airport, but it's a busy one that offers a range of passenger services – including conference facilities and information kiosks.
It's also an efficient airport: the way it is run has earned George Airport the "Airport of the Year" trophy five times since the competition was launched by South Africa Airways in 1987/88.
