One of the most spectacular beach views in the world comes into sight as you come around Chapman’s Peak Drive. Noordhoek’s 8km beach is the longest and widest stretch of untouched pure white sand in the whole peninsula. Not suitable for swimming but perfect for the experienced surfer, it is wonderful for long walks, horse rides and sundowner drinks. |
The Noordhoek valley remains one of the Cape Town's treasured destinations. Despite its rural atmosphere and rustic surroundings, its famous beach and its vast wetlands, Noordhoek has lots more to offer, including a wide range of activities.
Noordhoek is situated at the foot of Chapman's Peak. It has a delightful village atmosphere with awesome mountain and sea views. Here you will find horses, pigs, cows, hens, ducks, geese and rabbits roaming around in gardens and open public spaces. Here you will see numerous wild peacocks, guinea fowl, Egyptian Geese and meerkats. This is where you will hear the owls hooting at night, where you will watch the Black Eagle soaring above, and where you will hear the call of the Fish Eagle echo as it flies over the majestic mountains.
Noordhoek is a horse lover's paradise and one of the most popular outrides is along the very long, sandy, white beach. Hikers can choose from hundreds of walks in the surrounding mountains renowned for their fynbos vegetation. The beach attracts sunbathers, swimmers and surfers.
Noordhoek is within easy reach of Cape Town city centre as well as many excellent schools, shopping malls, restaurants and pubs, sporting amenities and medical facilities.
