Marlinspike Lodge, Cape Town Welcome to Marlinspike Guest Lodge! Situated in Hout Bay, Cape Town, Marlinspike offers magnificent sea and mountain views as well as top class Guest House / Bed and Breakfast accommodation.
Our Villa holds a prime position in the Cape Town, overlooking colourful Fisherman's village of Hout Bay, with spectacular, uninterrupted views of the yacht marina, the fishing harbour, Chapman's Peak and Hout Bay beach from every bedroom!
We offer bed and breakfast accommodation in one of our six double guest rooms. Each of which has sea and mountain views as well as en suite bathrooms, tea and coffee facilities, TV and use of the swimming pool. Two of the rooms can be combined into a family unit (ground floor). |

If you are a business traveller, or if you just want to stay in touch, there are phones in every room and we are one of the few Western Cape Guest Houses offering optional Broadband Wireless Internet access from all rooms as well as Conference and Office facilities.
Children are welcome (under parent’s strict control of course as the pool is not covered and the balconies are not ‘children friendly’) and while the indoor areas and rooms are non smoking you may take a puff in our beautiful indigenous garden with a variety of fynbos which is unique to this part of the world.
Start the day with fresh fruit salad, cereal, toast, fruit juice and coffee or tea or if you prefer a hot South African breakfast, with eggs of your choice (fried, boiled, poached, scrambled or omelette) with bacon, tomato and mushrooms.

Relax and Enjoy Hout Bay, Cape Town and the Peninsula
Be it business or pleasure, it would be sad to visit without enjoying the sights, sounds and life in Cape Town. By staying at Marlinspike Guest Lodge, you may enjoy the riches that Cape Town has to offer without having to endure the city centre traffic.
For relaxation, Hout Bay area is blessed with a number of beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants, pubs, cinemas and shopping areas. There are also mountain walks, boat rides, sailing, deep sea fishing, diving and horse riding.
Many of Cape Town's most memorable sights are right on our doorstep such as The world of Birds and Seal Island and if you are fortunate to visit in season, you can watch the Whales while you enjoy an evening drink in the balcony outside your room. The closest wine route is less than 5km away and we are en route to Cape Point Nature reserve and Boulders Beach in Simonstown (where you'll find the penguins).
Marlinspike Guest Lodge has 6 double rooms and in addition we are able to provide additional beds where you may want three or (maximum) four people in one room.
Facilities in the Rooms
Each of the rooms has:

* Its own en suite facilities. All except the second room in the family suite(which has no bath) has an en suite shower and bath and a number of the rooms also have bidets.

* Television - 7 channels including 2 satellite, one pay channel (m-net) and 4 open channels

* Heater
* Deck chairs
Our two ground floor rooms (200 and 201) consist of a double room (with en suite shower and bath) and a twin room (with en suite shower). The twin room is fitted with two single beds and has a common hallway with the double room making up a family suite.
The double room has a verandah leading directly out on to the pool area.
Both rooms include a television, coffee and tea facilities, telephone and optional access to broadband wireless internet
Room 202 is our "mountain and sea view room". It is closest to the mountain side, so for nature watchers the guinea fowl roam right outside your window. As with all of our rooms, 202 still hast the great sea veiws. The room has a double bed with en-suite bathroom/shower as well as our standard facilities - including telephone, television, coffee/tea and wireless internet (optional)
Leading directly on to the upstairs verandah you may also enjoy the evening nights and noises of the wilderness while looking out for seals and whales.
Room 203 is the mountain side twin room - still with the same sea views and also with some of the mountain views. There are two comfortable 3/4 beds and an en-suite bathroom/shower.
As always it has our standard facilities - including telephone, television, coffee/tea and wireless internet (optional) and also has access to the the verandah for a quiet evening drink before heading out for the sights of Cape Town.
We are also able to make up Room 203 as a double using a foam base to ensure continuity.
Similar to room 203, Room 204 is closer to the sea and has an en-suite bathroom with a view. Again there are two 3/4 beds.
As always it has our standard facilities - including telephone, television, coffee/tea and wireless internet (optional) and also has access to the the verandah.
If required, the two beds may be made up as a large double using a foam base to ensure continuity..
Room 205 is probably our most popular room with magnificent sea views from every window. We have had whale sighting from the en-suite toilet already this year!
Also having direct access to the end of the verandah and with all of the standard facilities (including telephone, television, coffee/tea and wireless internet (optional)), book early if you want to get this one!
We are there to ease the effort of arranging your trip by providing an advanced booking facility for Vehicle Hire, City Tours (Cape Point, Cape Town, Townships or the Winelands as well as coastal and shark diving) and advanced restaurant booking.
Cape Town central is only 20 minutes by car where you may visit Table Mountain, the Waterfront, the Castle and Robben Island not to mention the many restaurants and cultural events that take place there all year round.
If you are here for a conference, where better to relax – away from the bustle of the city but an easy drive in to the Cape Town Convention Centre after a hearty breakfast.
If it’s wine that you came to enjoy, we are close to the Constantia Wine Route and within a 40 minute drive to Stellenbosch. You may choose to sample some wine from our fully stocked bar while you watch the whales who visit our bay almost every year.
When you return, enjoy an evening drink in our cozy lounge and pub where we serve wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks. Our specialty is Foresters Bitter on tap which is freshly delivered from our local Mitchells Brewery. For those cold winter nights we have a large fire place - the perfect place to share the days events.
Dinner is served on request. We are famous for our seafood platter which includes fresh cape rock lobster, mussels (in season), prawns, calamari and line fish. Alternatively you may choose a succulent South African steak, lamb and ostrich. We are also within 1km of two of the Cape’s finest seafood restaurants as well as a steak house and an Italian restaurant.
