Nestled against the mountainside and bordering a nature reserve, Makapa Lodge is situated in Capri Village with a glorious view of the Atlantic Ocean and Chapmans Peak mountain. Positioned on the Cape Peninsula mid way between the Atlantic and False Bay coasts, we are only a short drive to the beaches at Fish Hoek, Kommetjie, Noordhoek and Simonstown.
Makapa Lodge offers luxury suites and a comfortable self catering chalet. Our accommodation is in quiet, safe surroundings, only 35 minutes from Cape Town city and 45 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. We are ideally located for Cape Point Nature Reserve, Boulders Beach with its famous colony of African Penguins, Constantia and other wine routes, Noordhoek art route, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and many other areas of interest. Horse riding, bird watching, mountain walks, surfing and golf are all close by. |

The luxury suites lead out to the large sparkling pool which is sheltered and solar heated. This lovely outdoor area is wind-protected and is ideally suited for having a gentle swim or relaxing on a lounger after a busy day’s sight-seeing. The beautiful landscaped garden with its pathways and seating areas, beckons guests to wander through and survey the indigenous plants and local birdlife. The lodge has secure parking within the fenced property which has access controlled gates.
Poolside Suites: Our three luxury suites have been decorated with beautiful wooden custom designed furniture, each suite having an individual African flavour. These stylish suites comprise of separate lounge, bedroom and ensuite bathroom.
Each lounge has comfortable armchairs, coffee table, writing desk, telephone, a well stocked mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities and flat screened TV.
The tastefully furnished bedrooms have double wardrobes, mirrored dressing tables, radio alarm clocks and generous shelf and drawer space.
The Oakwood Suite has two separate entrances, the main having seated decking with fabulous views of Noordhoek beach, the ocean and mountains. The large lounge leads into the twin bedded bedroom which has a seated area looking out onto the pool. This second entrance also has a private sheltered patio, ideal for relaxing.
The Oregon Suite is entered from it’s private, poolside patio area. The lounge has it’s own fireplace set along one stone-clad wall and leads into the double bedroom. This room has patio doors looking out onto a second private, quiet area, which is shaded on a hot afternoon.
The Cottonwood Suite is also entered from a private poolside patio area. The light and airy double aspect lounge leads out to a hallway which takes you to the modern bathroom or pretty bedroom with queen size bed. This room also has a double aspect and it’s patio doors open to a beautiful view of the mountainside. Here you can sit peacefully in the afternoon shade.
The roomy bathrooms all have baths with circular shower areas. All suites have two private patio areas enabling one to choose to sit in the shade or the sun at any time of the day.
Electronic safes are provided. Every guest has access to the large, beautifully landscaped garden and the solar heated swimming pool. The pool is large enough for swimming and is surrounded by comfortable seating, drinks tables, loungers and parasols. The garden is terraced and has several hidden seated areas where you can read, drink wine or take in the beauty of the garden and it’s surroundings.
The Garden Room: This comfortable room is full of character and seems to float in the centre of our tranquil indigineous garden. You enter the double aspect sunny lounge area from a quaint rustic patio. This room is warm and inviting and has that "country feel" with it's pine furniture and personal touches. The king size bed (or twins) sits against an imposing stone wall which runs right through into a luxurious bathroom with stand alone 'slipper' bath and large walk in shower area.
Ideal for that romantic break, this is the room we offer as our "honeymoon" suite or if you are celebrating a special anniversary. To make it extra special we add a bottle of 'bubbly' or flowers with our compliments.
Like our other luxury suites it also has comfortable armchairs, coffee table, a well stocked mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, a TV, telephone, alarm radio and an electronic safe.
As the sun sets enjoy a relaxing glass of wine while you listen to the last of the bird song and watch the ever changing sky fade behind the coastal mountains.
The Nest: Self catering accommodation for up to 2 people.
Set on its own away from the main house this cosy little log cabin has all that one needs to unwind and watch the world go by. Alternatively it makes a perfect base for the independent traveler.
One enters the “Nest” through a covered stoop with log seating area. The patio doors lead into a compact kitchenette with table-top cooker, table and chairs. Seated on the wicker chairs one has a magnificent view of the Atlantic Ocean, Capri Village and Chapmans Peak. This area opens to a run of kitchen units and fridge freezer. This in turn opens to the bedroom area with log frame double bed and furniture. There is a separate bathroom with hand shower.
The Nest is surrounded by the main garden but also has it’s own separate, private grassed area entered through an arch of trees. A table and chairs are provided, the perfect place for an intimate braai which is also provided.
