The beautiful gardens are proof of the wonderful soil and excellent rainfall. In Spring many gardens are open to the public. Azaleas, hydrangeas, magnolias, camellias and cherry blossoms bedeck the Village while the smell of jasmine, ginger, roses and freesias fill the senses.
The wetlands are full of arums and each pocket of indigenous bush and grassland is home to duiker, reedbuck, oribi and mongoose. Eagles, gymnogenes and kites breed in the tree-tops while the gardens are filled with the calls of barbets, robins, bulbuls, thrushes and sunbirds.
Did You Know? The Zulu name for Hilton is Nyezake which means "his feet" and refers to the presence of old Zulu war trails.
